You've nailed it, once again! I am so sorry you and your family are going through this, but you have the right idea. I too am privileged, in part by being older and not having kids, to be working less and reclaiming my time. It meant quitting an inflexible job with a difficult boss and switching to consulting — I make a lot less money but am enjoying the extra time so much.
